A very familiar face in the golfing circles of Sarasota, Jim Owen has been a PGA Certified golf professional since 1965. He is the former Director of Golf at Longboat Key Club where he served from 1978 to 1991. At that time he became part owner of Serenoa Golf Club selling that in 1998.

Jim was recognized as Teacher of the year in 1987 by the North Florida Section of the PGA and has figured that since moving to Florida in 1978 he has given at least 25,000 lessons.

Jim joined The Founders Club team in the latter part of 2003 as the Chairman of the Membership Advisory Board. He is also very involved in staff selection; design issues of both the course as well as the facilities and is currently very involved with giving potential members tours of the completed golf course.
