A Core GOlf Course by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

Carrying on the honourable traditions of golf that J. Hamilton Gillespie brought to Sarasota, revered golf course designer Robert Trent Jones, Jr. has sculpted a dramatic and rewarding course for The Founders Club, following the ancient contours of the traditional Scottish links.

The 18-hole championship golf course takes cues from the gently rolling terrain, set against a backdrop of centuries old oaks, pines and palms and highlighted by natural buffers of lush, untamed landscaping. The 7,094-yard, 72-par layout offers an unfettered route of play upon its tranquil fairways, embraced by lakes and natural wetlands that add a challenging aspect to the course.

Carving each hole into harmony with the beauty of the Sarasota landscape, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. created this rare “core” golf course to elevate the challenge and exhilaration of play. The renowned designer introduced environmental significance as the new paradigm of golf course design in the last decades of the 20th century, and today his courses not only preserve nature, but often enhance the natural habitats of their settings. Such is undoubtedly true in the traditional course found at The Founders Club.
