SARASOTA, FL--Michael Rego has joined Lee Wetherington Companies as Executive Vice President of Construction according to Lee Wetherington, president. “We are extremely pleased to have Michael on our team. His talents are a perfect match for our needs,” Wetherington says.
“Because he grew up in the home building business, he brings a depth and breadth of construction experience that are tremendous assets. In addition, he is licensed as a commercial swimming pool contractor and real estate salesperson. He also has an extensive background in purchasing and project management. Beyond his many technical skills, we welcome his emphasis on team-building and his style of working closely with home buyers.”
Lee Wetherington Companies, named America’s Best Builder by the National Association of Home Builders and Builder Magazine, encompasses several divisions including LeeSure Water Pools, which Rego will oversee. The new executive vice president is also responsible for supervising the purchasing, estimating, CADD, preproduction and construction departments.
A Tampa Bay native, Rego began his career as a framer with his father’s custom home building company while still in high school. By the age of 21, he had earned his general contractor’s license. “When it’s a family business, you learn to do it all,” he says.
In 1989, Rego moved from his father’s business to larger companies, holding increasingly responsible positions—to the levels of vice president of regional purchasing and director of construction operations—with Tampa Bay area divisions of three leading national home builders.
Rego is beginning his second year on the Board of Directors of the Home Builders Association of Sarasota County. He lives in Bradenton with Diana, his wife of 18 years, and their three children. Carrying on the Wetherington tradition of community service, he volunteers his time as a soccer coach for Braden River’s Youth Soccer program at Lakewood Ranch.
